Italian Armed Forces were Tuesday in celebration, in remembrance of the victory which marked the achievement of Italian unification. In Bucharest, the Italian Embassy and Military Attaché Office celebrated the event with a ceremony at the Italian Cemetery Ghencea in Bucharest, attended by ambassadors and military attaches, Romanian and Italian military and civil authorities, and all those who wanted to celebrate Italian Armed Forces.
During the ceremony, Ambassador of Italy Diego BRASIOLI and Military Attaché of Defence, Brigadier General Salvatore ESPOSITO, laid wreaths at the monuments of heroes, Italians and Romanians, to commemorate all the soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the honor of their homeland in Italy and abroad in times of war and peace, of which over 1,700 are buried in the Romanian ground. The figures are about the majority of fallen heroes during World War I, belonging to an Italian division, which part of the allied army of French General D’ESPERY participated in the offensive on the Macedonian front in September 1918, and about the heroes of WW II, who died while driving to and from the Russian front.
