Ponta: “ I want a Romanian nation that can work and live together united and this is what I will do”

Victor Ponta, candidate of the Alliance of the Social Democrats, the National Union for the Progress of Romania and the Conservatives (PSD-UNPR-PC) stated on Thursday, in Buzau County, referring to the criminal complaint filed by MEP Monica Macovei, that she probably wants a “Romanian nation made up of 20 million people with criminal complaints [against them]”.
“Mrs Monica Macovei, I know, wants a Romanian nation made up of 20 million people with criminal complaints . I want a Romanian nation that can work and live together united and this is what I will do”, said Ponta.
MEP Monica Macovei announced on Wednesday evening that she has filed a criminal complaint and denunciation with the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) in which she asked for the opening of an investigation against several persons, among whom Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean, and Minister-Delegate Bogdan Stanoevici, in her opinion “guilty of hindering Romanian citizens abroad from exercising their right to vote”.
Victor Ponta has stated, on Thursday, in Buzau County, that there is only one Romania and a single Romanian nation, and that he intends to be president of all Romanians, regardless of the area from which they come or other criteria.
“There is only one Romania and there is a single Romanian nation. Both the Romanians here in the country and those living abroad are absolutely equal, they have the same rights, we have the obligation to respect all of them, to thank them for the good things. Of course that I will also go to Transylvania, Dobrogea, and Moldova, everywhere, because everywhere it’s still Romania and I will go, also, to the Romanians on the other side of the river Prut, in the Republic of Moldova or Cernauti”, said Ponta, asked if before the second round of elections he will go to Transylvania too.
