Angela Gheorghiu launches new album, featuring her daughter and Loredana

Angela Gheorghiu will launch a new album of Christmas carols, entitled “Guardian Angel”, containing eleven of the most famous international sons dedicated to Christmas. The soprano performs some of the songs on the recording in duet with her daughter, Ioana Dan, and with pop star Loredana.

According to a press release issued to Mediafax, Angela Gheorghiu launches a new recording dedicated to the winter holidays, following last year’s succes registered with the album of Romanian Christmas carols “O, ce veste minunată”, winner of a Golden Record for massive sales in less than two weeks after being launched.

“I have been dreaming for years to record Romanian and international Christmas carols. Last year, one of my dreams came true, the CD of Romanian carols was launched. This year, I am happy for my new release, this time with international carols, as I love them just as much as I love Romanian carols. I wished that all songs on this album would be re-orchestrated especially for my voice. I invited some of the most talented musicians of Romania and from abroad, Steven Mercurio, Julien Painot and Dan Tudor, to work on this album, and the results are outstanding”, Angela Gheorghiu declared.

The soprano’s new release features eleven of the best known international Christmas songs, such as “Silent Night”, “White Christmas”, “O, Tannenbaum”, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, a song performed in duet with Loredana, and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”, duet with Ioana Dan, the diva’s daughter.
“The chosen repertoire is eclectic. You will discover songs in English, French, German and even Russian. There are carols from all over the world, because I wanted to reflect the beauty of this music that enjoys so much popularity all over the world. Christmas is the favourite holiday of millions of people who get carried away by dreaming and good hopes, harmony and peace, and who wish to get closer to their family and friends. I wished to sing with my daughter, Ioana Dan, because I have always had this special longing of being closer to my loved ones. I insisted a lot to persuade her, I succeeded, and her acceptance made me so happy. There is genuine emotion in this song. The duet with Loredana is an expression of a friendship that connects us for many years, we worked together with professionalism and grace. We both consider it a gift to the Romanian audience and also to our listeners all over the world”, Angela Gheorghiu added.
The carols were recorded at the Radio Hall, together with the Radio National Orchestra, conducted by Tiberiu Soare, the Radio Children’s Choir, conducted by Voicu Popescu, the Acoustic Chior, conducted by Daniel Jinga, and at Ines Sound & Video Studio. The executive producer of the recording is Oltea Serban-Parau.
“I would like to thank everybody for their great help and the love they showed me:: Jamie Rigler, Oltea Serban-Parau, Gladiola Lamatic, Mihai Ciortea, Florentina Bucos, Irina Stanescu, Tiberiu Soare, Daniel Jinga, Voicu Popescu, Yvan Bing, Andrei Barbu, Calin Ioachimescu, Cristi Dobrica, Andrei Tudor, Steven Mercurio şi Julien Painot”, Angela Gheorghiu outlined.
The album “Guardian Angel” is already available in hypermarkets and music stores all over the country.
