Romania will need 300,000 IT specialists in 2020

Romania currently has 120,000 IT specialists and the demand of software companies and of the IT departments of companies active in other domains will grow to 300,000 by 2020, according to the estimates of the Association of Software Industry and IT Services Employers (ANIS). ANIS and the Bucharest Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers are looking for solutions to meet the demand.“If we relate to the market’s need for specialists, the result is that we need at least a 50 per cent growth in the enrollment capacity at national level,” ANIS President Andrei Pitis stated.
Universities are encouraging the private sector to create a fund with which to support talented youngsters that have low financial possibilities and that refuse to be enrolled in faculty, despite being admitted, because they cannot afford to pay the taxes.
ANIS represents the interests of Romanian IT companies and supports the development of the Romanian software industry and IT services, and the growth of the companies involved in externalization projects as well as the growth of those that generate intellectual property through the creation of software products.
