Vodafone service revenues, down 5.3% in Q2 of fiscal year 2014 – 2015

The service revenues of mobile phone operator Vodafone decreased by 5.3pct, on an organic basis, in Q2 of fiscal year 2014-2015, compared to the same quarter of 2013, due to the significant reduction in termination tariffs by 69pct, which took effect on April 1, 2014, Vodafone representatives announced on Tuesday.
‘If we exclude the impact of lower termination tariffs, Vodafone Romania service revenues increased by 8pct compared to the same period of last year, on organic basis,’ Vodafone informs.
The operator had a number of 8,507,439 customers, of whom 7,914,267 mobile services users and 58,285 fixed broadband service users, on September 30, 2014.
Service revenues reached 167.6 million euros in the quarter ended on September 30, 2014.
Mobile data consumption increased by 63pct in the quarter ended on September 30, 2014 compared to the same period in 2013. Vodafone services’ subscribers represented 42.2pct of the customer base and the users of Vodafone prepaid card – 57.8pct. The number of postpaid service users increased by 0.6 percentage points quarter to quarter and by 1.9 percentage points from year on year.
Moreover, in September we launched the Supernet, an innovation aimed to offer the best 4G and 3G experience, exclusively for Vodafone users. A significant impact that we have noticed after the launch of the Supernet was at the level of smartphone data traffic, which has significantly gone up, by over 150%, compared to the same quarter of last year,’ says Ravinder Takkar, Vodafone Romania President and CEO.
