Hidroelectrica estimates profit of RON 1,100 bln, up by 22 pc compared to 2013

Hidroelectrica, leader in the production of electricity and the main supplier of technological services needed within the national energy system, has registered in October the biggest monthly profit since the company was established, namely RON 124 M. According to a company communiqué, the profit of RON 943 M reported by the company in the first 10 months also represents an absolute record, being higher by 23.64 per cent compared to the same period last year. This exceptional financial performance was based on higher energy sales but also on a rigorous control of production costs, a control imposed by the Euro Insol trustee in bankruptcy through the plan of reorganization.  In the first ten months of 2014 Hidroelectrica has produced and delivered 15.5 TWh, the company estimating a production of at least 17.5 TWh for the whole of 2014.
Its turnover in the first ten months has thus reached RON 2,786 bln, surpassing by 11.24 per cent the value registered in the same period last year, a turnover of RON 3.2 bln being estimated for the whole year.
The exceptional financial result registered so far creates the premise for a historic profit of RON 1,100 bln at the end of this year, up by 22 per cent compared to last year’s result and three times higher than the profit registered in 2010, back when Hidroelectrica registered its higher production of electricity ever, namely 20 TWh.
