The bridge spanning the Danube – Black Sea Canal in the Constanta Sud – Agigea port was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Premier Victor Ponta. Construction works had started in 2010. The investment was financed with European Union funds, through the Transport Sectoral Operational Program (POS-T) 2007-2013, and from state budget funds.
The bridge is suspended and is the biggest bridge of this kind in Romania. It has a total length of 360 meters, a central length of 200 meters, a width of 17.4 meters and four lanes. The bridge has a height of 18.4 meters. The pillars that support the bridge from the banks of the canal have a height of 66 meters above sea level.
