The candidate for Romania’s president of the alliance made up of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) – the National Union for Romania’s Progress (UNPR) – the Conservative Party (PC), Victor Ponta, would win the presidential ballot runoff with 54 per cent, while his opponent from the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL), Klaus Iohannis, would get 46 per cent of the votes, according to a CSCI poll conducted over November 11 – 12 and released on Thursday.
The poll shows that Ponta is also a leader in terms of confidence in politicians, with 44 per cent of the citizens having stated they have much and very much confidence in him. The second place is taken by Klaus Iohannis – 38 per cent, followed by Calin Popescu Tariceanu – 36 per cent and Traian Basescu – 19 per cent.
The CSCI poll was conducted in the period November 11 – 12, through the CATI method, nationwide, with 1,500 interviews and a 2.5 per cent admitted error, at a 0.95 per cent probability level, reports Agerpres.
