P&G sells detergent plant in Timisoara

America’s Procter&Gamble has sold its detergent plant in Timisoara to Germany’s Dalli, a group that produces private brands, sources have told Mediafax.
According to the aforementioned source, as a result of the deal Dalli will produce P&G detergent brands for another three years. In Timisoara, P&G was producing detergents for laundry under the Ariel, Tide and Bonux brands, but also the Fairy dishwashing detergent, products that it used to sell both on the local market as well as abroad, in regional countries.
Procter & Gamble has been present in Romania since 1992. In 1995 it bought the Detergenti SA Timisoara detergent and bleachers plant, the initial investment surpassing USD 40 M.
In 2010, Procter & Gamble (P&G) inaugurated a shampoo and hair care products plant in Urlati, Prahova County, following an investment of over USD 100 M, this also being the American group’s first greenfield investment in Romania. The plant has four production lines, three for shampoos and one for hair balm, with 90 per cent of the production being exported. This year, the Fater S.p.A. company owned jointly by P&G and Tenimenti Angelini S.p.A has taken control of the “Afacerea ACE,” the producer and distributor of the ACE bleach, from the Detergenti SA plant owned by P&G. The “Afacerea ACE” company deals with the production, packaging, distribution, promotion and sale of the “ACE” brand of textile care products and was owned by the Detergenti SA Timisoara producer, a company that is part of America’s Procter & Gamble (P&G).
