Mihai Sfintescu, team leader at Catalyst Romania and partner of 3TS Capital Partners, along with Ion Sturza, former prime minister of the Republic of Moldova, president of Universal Online Promotion, announced yesterday, during a very dynamic Q&A session, the completion of a transaction that is very important for the trends registered in the e-commerce sector.
Catalyst Romania is the first private equity fund dedicated to Romania, financed mainly by the European Investment Fund (EIF), through the JEREMIE (Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises) initiative, as part of the “Enhancing Economic Competitiveness” Sectoral Operational Programme.
By taking over 10 per cent of elefant.ro (capital rise), Catalyst Romania marks a new investment after the previous ones: avocat.ro and Simartis Telecom.
Elefant.ro, owned by Fribourg Investments and administered through Universal Online Promotion, is an online mall with a varied portfolio: books, media support, e-books, toys, cosmetics and perfumes, footwear and clothing etc. Elefant.ro sales are expected to rise to EUR 30 M by 2015 as a result of the new transaction.
