Plenty of events at the Gaudeamus Book Fair

More than 300 exhibitors will be expecting visitors at the International Book for Learning Gaudeamus 2014 Fair to hold 21st edition at Romexpo Exhibition Complex in the capital starting today until Nov. 23.
The Fair initiated and organised by Radio Romania public broadcaster will welcome its guests by a marathon of publishing and professional events – nearly 750, a record in the fair’s history – proposed by the organiser, by the special guests and the exhibitors.
This year’s edition will have the Russian Federation as the guest of honour. The Russian guest has scheduled over 30 events organised inside the fair or in other spaces in Bucharest. As many as 17 Russian guests – authors, literary critics, publishers, journalists and musicians, well-known names of the present-day Russian cultural landscape will launch and present books, will sign autographs, will stage debates. The privileged partner of the edition this year too is GADIF – the Group of the Francophone Embassies, Delegations and Institutes in Romania.
The honorary president of Gaudeamus 2014 is GADIF president Benoit Rutten, the delegate of Wallonia – Brussels in Romania.
Klaus Iohannis will launch his autobiography
One of the main events at Gaudeamus Book Fair will be held today starting at 5:30.
Romania’s newly-elected president, Klaus Iohannis, will launch his autobiography “Pas cu Pas” (“Step by step, editor’s note). In the over 200 pages of the book, Klaus Iohannis presents behind-the-scene stories and lesser known moments of his public life. For the first time, Romania’s new President openly speaks in an autobiography about his childhood, teen age, his sister, his wife, his time in Cluj as a student and his career as a teacher.
A referential point for European culture
Gaudeamus International Fair is the most important and longstanding exhibition event dedicated to books in Romania, being organised since 1994, the only book show in the world being initiated by a public radio corporation.
Each autumn, the Gaudeamus International Book Fair becomes the centre of the editorial market and of cultural life in Romania. A book exhibition combined with a literary cafe, the fair offers a marathon of over 600 cultural events at each edition, in a friendly and relaxed mood that defines the encounter with the animated world of printed culture.
Gaudeamus Book Fair is rated among the top-10 such events in Europe by size and the value of the market thus created.
