Bucharest – Giurgiu express road to be finished in December 2015

One of the most important and used roads in Romania is the one linking Bucharest and its beltway to Giurgiu and then southern Romania and Bulgaria.
Unfortunately, only half of the 100-kilometer road between Bucharest and Giurgiu is modernized. The rest was left in disrepair after a former construction company went insolvent.
The National Roads and Highways Company (CNADNR) will pay a Romanian-Italian association RON 94.4 M (VAT included) to modernize an 11.6-kilometer section of National Road 5, between Bucharest and Adunatii Copaceni. The contract was won in open tender by the Eurogen Aninoasa Branch – Aleandri – Beozzo Construzioni – Smart Building Project association.
The total value of this contract is RON 76.1 M, VAT not included, 85 per cent of the sum representing non-reimbursable funds offered by the European Commission. The construction works are set to last one year and the road has a warranty period of two years.
