Francois Hollande congratulates Klaus Johannis, invites him to Paris

French President, Francois Hollande, congratulated Klaus Iohannis for winning the presidential election, in a letter that was handed him by the French Ambassador to Bucharest, Francois Saint-Paul.

President-elect Klaus Iohannis  had a meeting on Wednesday morning with the French Ambassador to Bucharest who handed him the congratulatory message by President of France. “On the occasion of your election as President of Romania, I am  pleased to address my sincere congratulations and my best wishes for success in your high performance mission. Romania and France are linked by an old and strong friendship, that I want to develop further. Through his membership to the Francophone movement, Romania shares with France the attachment for a world that respects diversity, particularly cultural and linguistic, whose symbol is also your victory, that I welcome, “reads the letter signed by Francois Hollande, obtained by Mediafax. “In our countries, as in other European Union member states, our fellow citizens expect from us to give new impetus to the European project. Together with you, I want to build a more prosperous Europe, fairer and stronger, able, at times when faced with various crises in its neighborhood, to spread its characteristic values, namely democracy and respect for the rule of law. We will have the opportunity to get involved jointly in this project, within the European Council.  I am pleased also to invite you to Paris, depending on the availability of your agenda. Renewing you my wishes for success in exercising of the new responsibilities at the helm of Romania, please accept, Mr. President, the assurance of my highest consideration, “the document states.
