The arrivals and overnight stays in the Romanian tourist accommodation units rose by 6.5 percent and 5.4 percent respectively in the 10 months of this year as compared to last Jan.-Oct., show figures made public by the National Institute for Statistics on Tuesday.
Arrivals recorded in the tourist accommodation units over Jan. 1 – Oct. 31, 2014 totalled nearly 7.285 million, up by 6.5 percent from the same period in 2013. The Romanian tourists’ arrivals at such tourist units accounted for 77.2 percent of the total, while the foreign tourists accounted for 22.8 percent, keeping almost steady from the 10 months of last year.
Most of the foreign tourists welcomed in the Romanian accommodation units come from Europe (77.2 percent of the total foreign tourists), with 85.7 percent of them coming from the European Union countries.
Arrivals at hotels Jan. to Oct. of this year hold a 75 percent share of the overall arrivals at the tourist accommodation units. Such share has expanded 6.9 percent as compared to the same period last year.
Overnight stays numbered 17.684 million in the 10 months, up by 5.4 percent from last Jan.-Oct.
Of these overnight stays, 81.5 percent were Romanian tourists, with the foreign tourists accounting for 18.5 percent. Most of the foreigners staying overnight in the Romanian tourist accommodation units were from Europe (75.7 percent), with 84.5 percent of them being from the EU states.
