Austria’s OMV Group is continuing its talks with Gazprom on building the South Stream pipeline, despite the Russian President’s announcement on cancelling the project, the Tass Agency informs.
“We are engaged in talks with Gazprom,” OMV’s press office pointed out, being quoted by the Russian news agency.
OMV Director General Gerhard Roiss had previously stated that the Austrian group was not consulted by Gazprom before the announcement concerning the cancellation of works on South Stream. Roiss pointed out that he is expecting a round of talks with Gazprom officials about the project. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Monday that Russia cannot continue to build the South Stream Italian-Russian gas pipeline because of the European Commission’s objections.
