6.6 million subscribers of audiovisual programmes’ retransmission services (ANCOM)

The number of the subscribers of the retransmission services of the audiovisual programmes has reached rd 6.6 million on June 30 2014, on the uptrend by 5.4 pct. as compared to the same period of 2013, and most of the users have opted for the cable television services, a statistics of the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), made public on Tuesday, reads.
In the first half of 2014, the covering rate at households’ level of the audiovisual retransmission services reached 89 pct., according to the suppliers’ reports, processed and made public by ANCOM.
Most of the subscribers continue to use the cable services (4.21 million), up by almost 6 pct. as against the similar period of 2013, the DTH satellite networks ranking second through which 2.37 million subscribers were receiving TV programmes services, by 4 pct. more than in the same period of 2013.
As regards the number of IP technology subscribing users, it records significant growth constantly, thus reaching 65,000 persons (+42 pct.) in the first half-year, as compared to the 46,000 reported in the fist half of 2013.
According to ANCOM, as regards the subscribers’ distribution between urban and rural areas, proportions are keeping the same trends as they did in the last years, meaning that 61 pct. of the total subscribers are in the urban areas. Most of them (80 pct.) have a cable subscription
