MEP Catalin Ivan announced his intention to run for the presidency of PSD, while also declaring that he worked at a new project inside PSD and even to run for the next presidential elections.
In an interview for Gandul, Catalin Ivan mentioned that he has gained the support of some of his colleagues in the Permanent National Bureau. “Next spring, we will have a Congress and I am confident there will be several projects. For the time being, Mrs. Dragnea and Ponta continue leading the party until the Congress. This spring, PSD will have a new leader elected by the Congress. I do not know whether Victor Ponta would run for this position”, Ivan declared.
On the other hand, Catalin Ivan pointed out the issue of poor organizing of the elections in the Diaspora. “It is a question frequently asked in Brussels: why were Romanians abroad unable to cast their vote?” Catalin Ivan revealed. He admitted that the image of Romanians left outside voting stations is a stain on the image of our country.
“It must be clarified whether the law did allow it or whether it was not desired. If the law did not allow it, it is a stain on the entire political class as, regardless of its good intentions, the Government cannot ignore applicable laws. If it was possible and it was not desired, it is a terrible issue of ours”, Ivan said.
