Six medals for the Romanian students at the International Junior Science Olympiad

The Romanian students who participated in the 11th edition of the International Junior Science Olympiad that took place over December 2 – 11 in Mendoza, Argentina, garnered a bunch of three silver and three bronze medals, informed Agerpres. Thus, all the six 8th graders in the team have made it to the podium. According to a release of the Ministry of Education, the students honored with silver medals are Stefan Razvan Balauca (“Mihai Eminescu” National College of Botosani), Hakan Calila (“Mircea the Elder” National College of Constanta) and Cristian Tudor Cozma (“Emil Racovita” National College of Iasi). The bronze medal awardees are Irina Malina Strugaru (Iasi National College), Andrei Vlad Basulescu (“Emanoil Gojdu” National College of Oradea) and Dan-Mircea Neagoe (Constanta city Gymnasium No. 16). “The International Junior Science Olympiad is an integrative competition, with the examination covering subjects from three sciences: chemistry, physics and biology. The contestants take three tests (two theoretical individual tests and a practical one for a 3-student team). As many as 187 students from 32 countries participated in this year’s edition,” the release reads.
