Over 1,500 events in Cluj Napoca, as part of the program European Capital of Youth 2015

Over 1,500 events – some of them in premiere, such as an electronic games festival and an European Championship of Orientation for Youth, some of them already notorious, such as TIFF, Timaf and Jazz in the Park, will take place in Cluj Napoca, as part of the program European Capital of Youth 2015.

Vlad Pop, President of the SHARE Federation, organizer of the project , Cluj-Napoca – European Capital of Youth 2015, declared on Thursday evening, at “Florin Piersic” Cinema Hall, at the presentation of the agenda of next year, that cultural, artistic, educational, professional, sport, ecumenical, entrepreneurial and charity events will be organized next year, as part of this program, the Mediafax correspondent reports.

“We have a wide range of events. Europe comes to Cluj-Napoca, and you, young people, are developing the European Capital of Youth. Besides consecrated events, such as the festivals TIFF, Timaf, Jazz in the Park, we will provide events in premiere such as the electronic games festival Dreamhack, an European Championship of Orientation for Youth and Well dance project, for dance enthusiasts”, Pop declared.

According to the organizer, there will be over 1,500 activities and events overall.

The organizers announced that the first event was scheduled on New Year’s Eve, when the stage in Union Square will host a show by the Danish band The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.

On his turn, Mayor Emil Boc declared that the Mayoralty of Cluj-Napoca has granted a fund of RON 2.3 million for the preparations of the project European Capital of Youth 2015.

“You won this title for this city. Without your implication and effort, this title would not be won. We have many things to show, from European and democratic values to the quality of students’ lives and to the creativity and dynamism of youth. The Mayoralty will support you in all your efforts. Cluj is the city that never sleeps. Cluj exists because of its youth”, Boc concluded.
