Timisoara commemorates 25 years since the 1989 Revolution

President-elect Klaus Iohannis participates on Tuesday in the ceremonies organised in Timisoara on the 25th anniversary of the Romanian Revolution. He called the Romanians through his Facebook page to search in their own archives, now, at 25 years since they won their right to freedom, and put together “images and testimonies of what the fall of communism and the birth of the Romanian democracy meant.” “This is the year when the Romanian people turns one quarter of a century since it gained its right to freedom. Therefore, I call you to remember together the winter of 1989 and the heroes of the Romanian people. By searching in the archives for photos from the days of our liberation and using the hashtag #25deanidelibertate, let’s put together images and testimonies of what meant the fall of communism and the birth of the Romanian democracy!” said on Sunday Klaus Iohannis on his Facebook page. On Sunday night, the president-elect also posted a new message on this issue where he says that “the most important lesson of December 1989 is that arms could never crush the peoples’ consciousness, and the values of democracy should be defended by all means and at any price.”
