Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Saturday said that the overview made by President Traian Basescu in his last press conference at the Cotroceni Palace is subjective, stating that the head of state mostly highlighted the positive parts and hid the negative ones, “however, forgetting to bring to mind the terrible sufferings of 2010-2011.”
“I thank Mr Basescu for the fact that at least at the end of the mandate (or mandates) he tries to explain what he leaves behind after ten years! As any personal overview, it is subjective, mostly showing the positive parts and hiding the negative ones. But it is good that at least now he acknowledges and brags about the merits of the Government (Tariceanu and Ponta in particular) in the economic and social development, however forgetting to bring to mind the terrible sufferings of 2010-2011!,” Victor Ponta wrote on his Facebook page.
The Prime Minister adds that, without any polemic attempt, he is positive that “without scandal, dissension and clientelism, Romania could have been in a much better place, close to the level of Poland, to say the least!.”
“Starting tomorrow we have a great opportunity (which we didn’t have over the past ten years) – to show in 2015-2016 how much we can do through dialogue, respect, tolerance and collaboration. As far as I am concerned, I shall definitely try this,” Victor Ponta also says.
