Ponta conveys message of support for Moldovan Prime Minister Leanca, expresses hope for continuity

Support to Republic of Moldova on its European path must and can be enhanced in 2015 through continuity in the relation with the Chisinau Cabinet, Prime Minister Victor Ponta told Agerpres.

“Supporting the Republic of Moldova was and remains one of the primary objectives of our foreign policy. And it will remain a very important goal in 2015 as well, when we need to enhance the support to our neighbouring country. I considered that as far as this relation is concerned, it is important to go beyond mere rhetoric and build a partnership based on achievements and support for Chisinau to fulfill its European destiny. For a long time, on both sides, rhetoric seemed more important. Today, in a very short time, we have the results that strengthen the special bond that exists between the two countries and the two societies,” said the Premier.

Ponta reiterated that alongside Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, he managed to implement several bilateral projects , reaffirming that “his return at the helm of the Chisinau Government is an opportunity not to be missed.”

“The victory of the pro-European forces in the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova is a good sign and a chance for the success of the integration project. Chisinau can still count on Romania’s support! I am glad that major projects have been completed in a very short period of time. Completing the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, the expansion of the SMURD emergency care system to the Republic of Moldova, increasing the number of scholarships awarded to students and pupils, offering school buses and Dacia Duster cars to the local authorities in the Republic of Moldova, supporting the rehabilitation of schools and kindergartens in the neighboring country, cooperating in the sector of education, culture, healthcare, energy – these are just some of the projects completed in recent years,” PM Ponta said.
