RATB Bucharest has received two Bucur LF trams, the only procurement of new public transport means this year. The information was offered by Ion Dedu, head of the Bucharest City Hall’s Transport Directorate and directly responsible for RATB. The Bucur tram is 25 meters long, has a height of 3.7 meters and a width of 2.45 meters. The empty vehicle weighs 34 tons and 50.5 tons when fully loaded. The tram has air conditioning system, automatic switchgear, automatic taxation and passenger count system and, on demand, an audio and video information system.
The Bucur trams are a local design and cost approximately EUR 900,000 apiece. The cost of a modern tram with low ground clearance starts off from EUR 1.4 M. RATB’s total budget this year totaled RON 710 M (approximately EUR 165 M), of which RON 560 M represents the City Hall’s subsidy.
