ANM issues Code Orange warning of snowfalls, blizzard and black ice for 10 counties

Romania’s National Weather Forecaster (ANM)  on Sunday issued a Code Orange warning of snowfalls, blizzard and black ice for ten counties in Moldavia (eastern Romania) and Muntenia (southern), in place from 8 p.m. on Sunday till 8 p.m. on Monday.

During the interval, the forecasters expect the quantities of precipitations to exceed 40-50 liters/ square meter in the counties Buzau, Vrancea, Braila, Ialomita, Galati, Vaslui, Bacau, as well as in the mountain area of Arges, Dambovita and Prahova counties.

The gusts of wind will exceed 70 – 80 kilometers per hour, the snow being drifted and visibility below 50 meters.

In addition, another Code Yellow alert of heavy snowfalls was issued for the southern half of Moldavia, the biggest part of Muntenia and northern Oltenia. Mixed precipitation and black ice are expected in Dobrogea and in south-eastern Muntenia.

Depending on subsequent developments, ANM will update the warning, reports Agerpres.
