Over 200 events overviewed by the Romanian police in the New Year’s night

The Romanian Police have surveyed over 200 events countrywide, with 345,000 participants during the December 31 – January 1 night of the New Year, and confiscated pyrotechnics counting for more than 78,357 RON (cca 17,529 EUR) in 271 criminal offenses regarding the pyrotechnics’ breach, informs Agerpres.

“At the same time, 9 persons ended up in hospital due to accidents induced by improper use of pyrotechnic materials,” on Thursday said the Internal Affairs Ministry (MAI) spokesperson, police under-commissioner Monica Dajbog.

The Police have also held 74 driving licenses and 18 registration certificates. For irregularities in traffic, the Police have given 2,152 sanctions, of which 274 for speeding, 13 for driving under alcohol influence and 4 for lacking winter tires.

The staff of the Emergency Situations’ General Inspectorate (IGSU) have intervened in 211 cases, of which 116 fires.

The SMURD emergency care units have responded to 804 calls.
