Kelemen Hunor to run for new term as UDMR president

Kelemen Hunor has announced his intention to run for a new term as president of UDMR. ‘I have decided to run again for the office as president of UDMR’, the Union leader told Hungarian language news portal Maszol.ro. ‘After consultations with a number of my colleagues, assessing the road travelled by UDMR in the last four years and the expectations of the Union, I have decided to stand again for election as president of UDMR’, Kelemen Hunor said.

The announcement follows a communiqué from the Mures territorial organisation stating that its proposal for president of UDMR in the following Congress was Kelemen Hunor. During the latest meeting with the media in December 2014, Kelemen Hunor said he would make a decision on a possible candidacy for a new term at the helm of UDMR in January 2015, the quoted source notes.

The Congress of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) will take place in Cluj-Napoca on 17-18 April. So far, Kelemen Hunor is the only announced candidate for president.
