Leonard Orban quits European Institute

Ex-European Commissioner Leonard Orban who has been informally mentioned as possible adviser to President Klaus Iohannis has resigned office as President of the Board of the European Institute of Romania (IER), his resignation being effective as of 15 January.

The resignation letter was submitted on 29 December and the decision whereby PM Victor Ponta took note of it was published in the Official Journal of Romania on Tuesday, to become effective on 15 January.
