Romania’s Halep qualifies for the final of WTA Shenzen tournament

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has qualified for the final of the 500,000-dollar WTA tournament in Shenzhen (China) on Friday, after defeating Chinese player Saisai Zheng by 6-2, 6-3, in one hour and 26 minutes of play., informs Agerpres.

Halep (23 years old, #3 WTA) has ensured, through the qualification, in the final a check worth 55.323 dollars and 180 WTA points. Zheng (20 years old, #97 WTA) managed to provide the best performance of her career in Shenzhen, surpassing her previous semifinal in the 250,000 Tianjin tournament of last year. In the Shenzhen tournament, Saisai Zheng defeated Romanian player Alexandra Dulgheru by 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 in the inaugural round.

Simona will face off in the final of her first tournament in 2015 against the winner of the match between Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic), seeded second, and Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky, seeded eighth.
