PMP brings the congress date forward, Udrea most probably would no longer run for chairperson

People’s Movement Party (PMP) Chairperson Elena Udrea said that in the National Executive Council (CEN) meeting on Monday the congress date was brought forward, going to take place on February 8, and that she most probably would no longer run for a new mandate as party leader.

‘PMP decided today to bring the congress date forward. We have the congress established on March 21, we proposed the CEN to organise a congress on February 8, so the new leadership of the party can establish a strategy in accordance with the PMP’s Opposition party status,’ Elena Udrea said at the end of the meeting quoted by Agerpres.

When asked if she planned to run for the chairperson position, she said: ‘Most probably I shall no longer run for the office of party’s chairperson.’

‘There will be a congress on the 8th [of February], we shall see then who enters this competition. It is important that the future leadership of the party, regardless of the persons making it up, comes with a vision including an Opposition party strategy. We are the only Opposition party in a PSD-PNL  ruling, we find that everyone is at rule today,’ Udrea pointed out.
