Romania is 53rd in a 126-nation table ordered by the share of female managers, with 31.4 per cent of the total managers. Romania thus surpasses countries such as Germany, Austria, Spain and Netherlands, but ranks below the Republic of Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria and Poland, according to an International Labor Organization report.
The countries with the smallest percentage of female managers are Pakistan (3 per cent), Algeria (4.9 per cent) and Jordan (5.1 per cent). A low share can also be found in Italy (25.8 per cent), Greece (25.1 per cent) and the Czech Republic (26.2 per cent).
In what concerns the presence of women at medium-level managerial positions, Romania is 24th in a 49-nation table, with a share of 31.1 per cent, the table being topped by the Dominican Republic (55.8 per cent), Panama (48.7 per cent) and Latvia (44.6 per cent).
