PM Ponta receives the EU ambassadors, the Swiss franc crisis tops the agenda

*Romania congratulates Italy for the results achieved in its semester in the second half of 2014, assures the Latvian Presidency of all its support * Previosly, PM Ponta had a meeting with President Iohannis

 

Busy day, not only for the Romanian officials, but also for the EU ambassadors accredited in Romania.  They were received by Prime Minister Ponta in the biannual meeting for an exchange of views on topics of interest on the EU agenda, in the context of Latvia’s takeover of the EU Council Presidency.

Previously, President Klaus Iohannis received  Prime Minister Victor Ponta at the Cotroceni Palace, to discuss the economic situation in the context of the Swiss franc crisis and the Executive’s activity in this period.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta presented the EU ambassadors Romania’s priorities at European level in the context of the current challenges facing the EU and its neighborhood and has exposed the economic developments and prospects, reads a Government Press Office release.

“Romanian Prime Minister assured the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council of Romania’s support in implementing its objectives and also praised Italy for the results achieved in the second half of 2014 during the Italian Presidency. During the meeting, Prime Minister Victor Ponta presented Romania’s priorities at European level in the context of the current challenges facing the EU and its neighborhood”.

According to the cited source, the Head of the Romanian Executive exposed the economic developments and prospects, addressing also the implications of the Swiss franc crisis. He highlighted the importance of implementing, as soon as possible, the Juncker investment plan, to contribute by complementing the European funds, to the strengthening the economic growth, to jobs creation and increasing investors confidence.

“In the same time, he reiterated Romania’s attention to the discussions on the reform of the Stability Pact, with consideration of strategic issues, and the further deepening of Economic and Monetary Union “, the release also shows.
