Mircea Ionescu Quintus compares Iohannis with King Carol I, only regret is that he cannot act as the PNL leader anymore

The venerable 98-year old Senior Liberal Mircea Ionescu Quintus (photo L) , the honorary president of the National Liberal Party (PNL) commented the first TV interview of President Klaus Iohannis after taking office.

Quintus compares Iohannis with King Carol I and claims to have a single regret about him: he can no longer act as leader of the Liberal Party.” I knew him like this, I appreciated him as a master on his programs, on his intentions, on his good judgment given to the citizens of this country, whether they voted him or not. I’d say he is a committed  German that  Romania needed as much as it needed King Carol I. Iohannis has not proven anything else but being the personality that we needed and who does not change along the time when having the power (…) He changes himself increasingly better, for the good fortune of these people and of the country he leads. My only regret is that I lost him from the party and I was thinking how hard is to choose: to give the country in the hands of a good man or to keep him in your party. But as a Romanian, I have always thought that the general interest should prevail, “the venerable Liberal Senior told Realitatea TV private broadcaster on Thursday evening after President Iohannis gave his first live televised interview since taking office.
