Romania has to start surveying and registering agricultural land in 2015

Romania has to start this year the surveying and registering of agricultural plots of land because starting in 2020 agricultural payments will be made based on farms not on the surface unit, Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry (MADR) secretary of state Daniel Botanoiu stated in an interview for Agerpres.

“We already have in the circuit a draft government decision authored by the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity (ANCPI), because they deal with agricultural land. I hope this law will appear rapidly, we will contribute to it in order to improve it. It is extremely necessary because payments in European agriculture will change starting in 2020. A new system of payments will come into force and we will not be able to pay unless we have everything registered,” Botanoiu stated.

According to the aforementioned source, the process should be finalized by 2018 at the latest in order for farmers to be paid starting in 2020 when the system will be modified at European level.

In what concerns the funds needed in order to register the 14 million hectares, the MADR official pointed out that they have been estimated at EUR 30 per hectare, with most of the sum set to come from European funds.
