Number of insolvent companies 30 pc smaller in 2014

* Approximately 200,000 foreign capital companies at the end of 2014

According to the Commerce Registry (ONRC), in 2014 the number of insolvent companies dropped by 30.05 per cent from 29,587 in 2013 to 20,696. A significant drop in the number of insolvencies (77.61 per cent) was registered in Mehedinti County where 189 insolvencies were registered in 2014, compared to 844 in 2013.

At the same time, 101,627 new companies were set up in 2014, down by 18.58 per cent compared to 2013 when 124,816 new companies were set up. Most new companies were set up in the following domains: “bulk and retail trade; auto vehicle and motorcycle repair”, “education”, “information and communications,” where 6,076 new professionals were registered in 2014 compared to 5,552 the year before.

The number of companies with foreign capital participation stood at 198,635 on 31 December 2014, representing a growth of 3.2 per cent year-on-year, while the total value of subscribed registered capital stood at RON 146,726,815,000, up by 13.3 per cent year-on-year.
