President Iohannis visits the 33rd Mountain Troops Battalion “Posada”, takes lunch with the soldiers

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis   assisted on Friday to the training mission of the 33rd Mountain Troops  Battalion “Posada” at the Army Combat Training Centre in Cincu  and had lunch with the military, reads a release published on the Presidential Administration website. The Battalion will participate since March at the mission “Resolute Support” in Afghanistan. For six months, the 420 soldiers will be deployed to Kandahar, acting as a subunit of protection that will ensure the security of the military base and advise Afghan forces.

The 33rd Mountain Troops Battalion “Posada” is at the fifth participation in the theaters of operations. ” Getica” Army Combat Training Centre *in Cincu became, after the transformation of the Romanian Armed Forces, the most modern structure that organizes training activities of the military for national defense missions and for those performed in theaters of operations.

The military structures until the brigade level are trained and evaluated through the current simulation technologies, constructive, virtual and integrated, creating an operational environment close to the reality of the modern battlefield and providing military capabilities and existing facilities. Center infrastructure enables gunnery training troops through different categories of weapons, artillery drawdown from the throwers until the LAROM system and aviation drawdown, filled up with different types of exercises, depending on the operational needs of all categories of forces.

For results in training exercises and missions performed in the theaters of operation, the Battalion Flag  was awarded the Order “Military Virtue” – the rank of officer for the military, the “Emblem of Honor of the Romanian Army “and the ” Emblem of Honor of the General Staff”, the Presidential Administration release  shows.
