US, UK embassies’ representatives meet Magistrates’ leaders, appreciate the reforming efforts of CSM

Chair Marius Badea Tudose and Vice Chair Bogdan Gabor of the new leadership of the Supreme Council of Magistrarcy (CSM) met representatives of the United States and United Kingdom embassies on Monday.

According to a release of the CSM, the Council’s representatives presented the priorities of their term to the foreign officials: continuing the steps towards concrete and effective results as regards the independence of the Judiciary; strengthening the Council’s capability to guarantee this independence; and carrying on the reform of the Judiciary.

The CSM heads hailed the preoccupation and support of the two diplomatic representations in Bucharest for the reforms of Romania’s legal system; they appreciated the prompt stances and the assistance offered to the fulfillment of CSM’s role.

The foreign officials took the opportunity to appreciate the reforming efforts of CSM, as noted in the latest report of the European Commission on Romania within the Cooperation and Verification mechanism and  underscored the Council’s importance in the current social context.
