President Iohannis praises late German President Richard von Weizsacker

President Klaus Iohannis visited the German Embassy to Romania on Wednesday in order to sign the book of condolences in the memory of late Federal President Richard von Weizsacker.

The former President of the Federal German Republic, Richard von Weizsacker, considered one of the highest moral figures of post-war Germany passed away last Saturday, at the age of 94.

In a Facebook post, Iohannis praises the personality of the great German president and presents condolences to the family of the former leader and to the German nation.

“The memory of President Richard von Weizacker will be praised forever, as a memory of a grand political personality, not just of Germany, but of the entire world deserves to. His contribution to the process of reuniting the German state and his determination to confront the crimes of the Nazi regime are actions of special significance, that gave new directions to his nation’s politics. Europe in its entirety has taken advantage of the clarity of vision and of the high moral conduct of President Richard von Weizsacker. In these moments of suffering, I would like to present the mourning family and friends and the entire German nation my condolences and my complete solidarity, in the name of Romania’s citizens and in my personal name”, Iohannis wrote.
