Romania is among the European Union members with the best reaction times (less than 10 seconds) and enhanced accuracy in locating the callers of single emergency number 112, according to the most recent report of the European Commission made public by the Romanian Special Telecommunications Service (STS) on Saturday.
The report shows that the average response time is 3.68 seconds and is recorded in the case of 94.63 percent of the 112 calls and Romania is among five EU members which represent examples of good practice in terms of the supply of the required data for the system analysis.
As for locating the callers, in only 2 percent of the cases it is not possible, with the accuracy of the location being of 97.20 percent for the landline telephony networks and 99.27 percent for mobile telephony. For Romania, both the usage of 112 number and locating the caller also operate in roaming.
Following the education and information campaigns conducted by the STS, the rate of false calls in Romania has dropped by around 25 percent in the last years and currently stays at 65 percent, being within the average recorded in other European countries that have a tradition in this respect, the STS release also said.
