President Iohannis starts two-day official visit to Chisinau on Tuesday

President Klaus Iohannis will be paying on Tuesday and Wednesday an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, where he will meet his counterpart Nicolae Timofti, Moldovan Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu and leaders of political parties.

According to the Presidential Administration, before taking off for Chisinau, the President of Romania will make a press statement around 14:00 p.m. at the “Henri Coanda” International Airport of Bucharest.

In Chisinau, President Iohannis and his Moldovan counterpart will hold on Tuesday one-on-one talks followed by a meeting of both delegations at the official residence. Subsequently, the two heads of state will hold a press conference. The President of the Republic of Moldova will offer an official dinner in honor of the Romanian President at the “Cricova” winery.

On the same day, the Romanian head of state will hold talks with Moldovan Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici.

On Wednesday, President Iohannis will meet with chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova Vlad Filat, chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova Marian Lupu, leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu, as well as with Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu.

He will also participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the “Stephen the Great and Holy” memorial and will visit the Moldova State University, where he will deliver an address to the students.

President Klaus Iohannis’s visit to the Republic of Moldova was initially scheduled for January 22 – 23, but the trip was postponed until after the approval of a government in Chisinau.

Next on President Iohannis’s agenda is a visit to Germany.
