New Fiscal Code to be approved by Gov’t on March 18-25

Premier Victor Ponta stated on Wednesday that the two draft codes concerning the fiscal regime will enter the government’s debate on March 18-25.

Ponta added that the program proposed by the ruling coalition is the best, apart from several “minor critiques” that came from those who “said that they have a better program but they don’t.”

“Nobody in Romania has a program better than the one we proposed. The important thing is that after three years of work we can also adopt the lowering of VAT and all the other measures, and most of all we can have a very clear medium and long-term economic development plan and strategy,” the Premier added.

Asked when the draft Fiscal Code will be presented within the government, Finance Minister Darius Valcov answered: “on March 18-25.”

The Premier added that the draft will be finalized after the government and public debates and in relation to the financial results for January and February.
