On Thursday, a day after being arrested again, Elena Udrea had a message posted on Facebook expressing her position on ‘three mechanisms’ regarding the Gala Bute case where she claims to be convicted by the mass-media. The message is signed ‘The Communication Team’.
‘We are describing three mechanisms regarding the Gala Bute case – the Facebook message states. ‘Businesspeople and Development Ministry officials are exposed to have given and taken bribe, the evidence consists of communication interceptions, the route of the money through accounts and depositions where they admit to being guilty (whilst initially they had denied that)’.
‘These people make denunciations against Elena Udrea (there is no other evidence than the denunciations). The result: they are free, Elena Udrea is arrested. This means that declarations against Udrea bring you the freedom’, the message states.
Udrea also points out that there are information and very clear indications that those who made denunciations against Elena Udrea in the Gala Bute case had agreed on what to declare and tried to influence the investigation.
‘Stefan Lungu says he and Gardean agreed in December 2014 on what they would each state. Ana Maria Topoliceanu put pressure on Tudor Breazu to back her denunciation; there is a collective denunciation (a unique situation in criminal practice) also citing Elena Udrea’s name. Moreover, almost all denouncers re-considered their initial declarations. All these people are free (despite of the law article stating that suspects who wish and can influence the investigation must be arrested) and Udrea is under arrest’, the message states.
Udrea also says ‘the position of the prosecution (in the DNA report) is omnipresent in the public area’ and that ‘it is a conviction by the mass-media’, whilst the position of the defense is not heard and seen at all, not even the declaration Udrea made in Court’.
The message ends with the hashtag ‘Kafka’ and is signed ‘The Communication Team’.
The High Court rights and freedoms judge on Wednesday admitted DNA’s proposal and ordered that Elena Udrea was arrested for 30 days, from 25 February to 26 March, for bribery and abuse of power.
