President Klaus Iohannis on Saturday said that Romania’s role in the context of the tensions at the eastern border of the European Union (EU) is that of being “a stability and wise political thinking landmark in the area.”
“The recent visits to the Republic of Moldova and Germany provided me, from two different stands, with a more detailed image on the current geopolitical situation. Romania’s role is that of being a stability and wise political thinking landmark in the area, in the context of the tensions and the danger at the eastern border of the European Union,” the President wrote on his Facebook account.
At the same time, the head of state pointed out that the peace and prosperity solutions can come up only from the meeting of the East with the West.
“In Chisinau, I talked about the European path the Republic of Moldova has to cover, and, in Berlin, about the path the European Union has to cover towards countries exposed to instability, such as the Republic of Moldova. Only from this meeting of the East with the West can peace solutions and prosperity hopes come into view. It is a political reflection topic which I shall get to the bottom of on the occasion of my visit to Kiev,” Iohannis maintained.
