The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.5 percent in January 2015, down by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, and by 0.5 percentage points from the level recorded in January 2014, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The number of unemployed people (aged from 15 to 74), estimated for January 2015 is 607,000 people, down from the previous month (609,000 people) and also from the same month a year earlier (648,000 people).
By gender, men’s unemployment rate exceeds by 0.7 percentage points that of women (the respective values being 6.8 percent for men and 6.1 percent for women).
For adults (aged 25 to 74), unemployment rate was estimated at 5.2 percent for January 2015 (5.6 percent for men and 4.7 percent for women).
The number of jobless people aged 25 to 74 represents 73.7 percent of the total number of the unemployed estimated for January.
