Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Friday and Saturday in Riga participates in the informal meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers from European Union (EU) member states (Gymnich type), informs the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) in a release to Agerpres.
The cited source points out that the debates within the meeting are aimed at the crisis in Libya, the situation in Ukraine and, in context, the relations of the European Union with the Russian Federation, the preparation for the Eastern Partnership Summit (May 21 – 22), the revision of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) and the revision of the EU’s strategic action framework.
‘The first part of the ministerial debates will be carried out with the participation of the president of the committee for foreign policy of the European Parliament, Elmar Brok. Moreover, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier will also participate in the discussions on the crisis of Ukraine,’ MAE announces.
At the same time, the situation in the eastern neighbourhood of the EU will be discussed by the heads of European diplomacies and their counterparts in the states candidate to join the EU.
The Gymnich-type informal meetings are organised twice a year by the state holding the half-year presidency of the Council of the European Union at the time of the meeting.
