The German Foreign Affairs minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier (photo L) will pay an official visit to Romania on Monday, where he will be received by president Klaus Iohannis, Prime minister Victor Ponta and will hold talks with his counterpart, Bogdan Aurescu (photo R) , a press release by the German Embassy in Bucharest informs Agerpres on Friday.
Mr. Steinmeier’s visit to Romania takes place less than two weeks after the visit paid to Berlin by the President Klaus Iohannis and his very fruitful exchange of views on the Romanian-German bilateral relations with the Chancellor Angela Merkel and his counterpart Joachim Gauck.
According to the source, the German official’s visit gives the opportunity to knowing and approaching economic and social relationships between Germany and Romania, alongside the political exchanges.
‘The visit to Sibiu (rd 272 km northwest of Bucharest) allows a thorough look inside the past and the present of the German minority of Romania. Apart from the inauguration of the ‘Romania’s German minority’s past and present’ exhibition, the high guest will participate in the festive event of the Germans Democratic Forum of Romania, which celebrates 25 years of existence. He is supposed to give a toast in which he will refer to the German minority of Romania and the policy on minorities, too,’ the source says.
The German official will meet representatives of the German economy and will participate in the opening of a new investment of a German company.
