Ten young men were detained in Sibiu on Thursday by the SCCO Sibiu Police supervised by the DIICOT Teleorman prosecutors, on charges of setting up an organised criminal group specialising in cybernetic crime.
The DIICOT prosecutors organised ten searches in the Counties of Teleorman, Valcea, Sibiu and Prahova and took 17 suspects in for questioning.
The Police raised an apartment in the Terezian district where the nine young men lived in Teleorman. Another young man from Sibiu, suspected of having joined the cyber crime group, was taken from his home and escorted to DIICOT for further investigations.
The prosecutors say ‘there is a reasonable suspicion that, from 2013 to 2015, the members of the group accessed without having the right to cybernetic systems – online accounts of people which they would then use for organising online auctions on the Internet, obtaining important material benefits’.
A different wing of the group dismantled on Thursday was engaged in ‘operations of using electronic payment tools without the owners’ consent, illegally obtaining material benefits’.
During the searches the investigators found and identified several persons who were organising fictitious auctions on specialised websites.
