The European Commission (EC) has reimbursed to Romania, since the start of the year, approximately EUR 565 M, a sum that represents funds related to payment applications filed in 2014, the absorption rate of European funds currently surpassing 52 per cent, the European Funds Ministry informs in a communiqué.
In February 2015 our country received reimbursements worth over EUR 460 M, and in the first ten days of March it received another EUR 104 M in reimbursements, European Funds Minister Eugen Teodorovici (photo) stated.
According to official data, from January 1 to March 4 the Transport Operational Sectoral Program was the program that received the biggest reimbursements (approximately EUR 299 M), followed by the Human Resource Development Operational Sectoral Program (EUR 158 M), the Regional Operational program (approx. EUR 80 M), the Technical Assistance Operational Program (EUR 17 M0, and the Environment Operational Sectoral Program (approx. EUR 12 M).
“At the end of this year Romania will reach an absorption rate of approximately 80 per cent, thanks to the measures we have started to implement ever since 2013 and that we will continue this year. I remind you that this is an extremely important year because it is the last year in which we can still spend funds earmarked by the EU for the 2007-2013 financial framework,” Minister Teodorovici pointed out.
According to the European Funds Ministry, the current European fund absorption rate has surpassed 52 per cent.
