Supreme Court rules former chief prosecutor of DIICOT be prosecuted under house arrest, decision not final

The Supreme Court of Justice and Cassation on Friday ruled that former chief prosecutor of the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crrime and Terrorism (DIICOT) Alina Bica be prosecuted under house arrest in a case known as Bica 1 that regards the dubious returning of a plot of land in Bucharest City. The court replaced pre-trial detention with a 30-day house arrest.

Bica will not be released yet, as the court’s ruling is not final.

Moreover, she is being held in pre-trial detention in connection with another court case known as Bica 2, in which she is indicted on charges of bribery (2 counts), abuse of office for having gained undue benefits (2 counts) and favoring the perpetrator (2 counts) as well, Agerpres informs.
