PM Ponta, interim Finance Minister until Wednesday

President Klaus Iohannis on Friday evening received at the Cotroceni Palace, upon his return from the meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, to discuss the appointment of a new Minister of Finance.

After meeting the President, the Prime Minister announced he would take over as interim at the Public Finance Ministry (MFP) until Wednesday. “I will take until Wednesday, March 25, the interim at the MFP! After the Tax Codes will be adopted, I will submit to the President the proposal for the new minister,” Ponta wrote on Twitter. The interim office will be held until Wednesday when the Government will adopt the new Tax Code.
“President Klaus Iohannis on Friday signed the decree through which he took note of the resignation of the Finance Minster, Darius Valcov, and the decree appointing the Prime Minister Victor Ponta as interim minister,” the Presidential Administration said in a press release.
