The national public procurements strategy will be finalized by June, a deadline agreed by Romania with the European Commission, along with four other draft laws in this domain, the desire being to implement the new legislative framework starting on 1 January 2016, European Funds Minister Eugen Teodorovici stated.
“For public procurements, June is the deadline we took before the European Commission in order to place on the government’s table the national public procurements strategy, an essential document in the absence of which the Commission can even stop all money for Romania, all money for operational programs. At the same time, we will also present a package of normative acts,” Teodorovici said. He pointed out that by the end of 2015 the four draft laws will be put up for public debate and will go through Parliament, so that Romania would implement the new legislative framework for public procurements starting on 1 January 2016.
According to the minister, the four draft laws represent the implementation of new European directives that change public procurements legislation.
